Brosseau Center for Learning: Centenarians

T. M. Rooke was Pre-Raphaelite painter Edward Burne-Jones's studio assistant for almost 30 years. He also produced work of his own—imaginative and religious subjects in oils together with watercolors, mostly of old buildings.

Rooke had a gentle, unassuming personality; Burne-Jones wrote of him to artist John Ruskin: "Also there is a very high place in Heaven waiting for him and He Doesn't Know It."
