Exhibition Label: “Big Shots: Andy Warhol, Celebrity Culture and the 1980s,” Aug-2009, Susan Earle Gene Swenson provided the text below the photographic image of Warhol on this poster for Warhol’s exhibition at the Stable Gallery in 1962. Born in Topeka, Kansas, and educated at Yale and the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, Swenson was an important art critic and collector who died at a young age. He donated part of his art collection to the University of Kansas.
