Exhibition Label: "Alberto Vargas: The Esquire Pinups," Sep-2001, Stephen Goddard, Maria Buszek Vargas’s depiction of the woman as baby, though ostensibly representing the new year on the January page of the first Varga Girl Calendar, may have its roots in his earlier work for the Ziegfeld Follies or in the films of Busby Berkeley.
