Exhibition Label: "Alberto Vargas: The Esquire Pinups," Sep-2001, Stephen Goddard, Maria Buszek In a vintage photograph, Marines can be seen viewing this gatefold as they approach Tawara in the Gilbert Islands. The photo was published in Esquire shortly afterward, as evidence of “which pages cover more territory than the rest of the magazine put together.”
