Exhibition Label: "Alberto Vargas: The Esquire Pinups," Sep-2001, Stephen Goddard, Maria Buszek Between the sale of the first U.S. War Bond, to President Franklin D. Roosevelt on May 1, 1941, and the final War Bond deposit on January 3, 1946, more than 85 million U.S. citizens invested in the war effort. A major advertising effort helped realize the $185.7 billion raised through bonds. This is one of three advertisements for War Bonds in the exhibition.
