Archive Label 2003: William T. Wiley's book, Suite of Daze is a pun on the "book of hours," (a book designed for private devotion originating in the Middle Ages.) Wiley's book pays respect to the ancient Chinese text, I Ching. The book contains fourteen etchings, three of which are of specific diagrams from "The Book of Change." Yet, Suite of Daze goes beyond its association with Eastern philosophy. Wiley's book is full of personal iconography and themes, such as the contradiction between his deliberate method of approaching the project and the spontaneous and gestural style of his art.
