Exhibition Label: "Windmills to Workshops: Lawrence and the Visual Arts," Jul-2004, Kate Meyer Peter Thompson arrived at KU in 1965 and has served as a Professor of Art and Dean of the School of Fine Arts. He also assisted in the design of the Lied Center and the Bales Organ Recital Hall. Thompson’s work reveals his underlying interest in geometry, specifically, the expressive potential of geometric forms that do not fit together neatly. This untitled drawing was generated from a basic geometric framework. Working from the top of this framework to bottom, Thompson has laid down undulating lines of variegated color, creating a sense of controlled chaos.
