Exhibition Label: "A Kansas Arts Sampler," Oct-2004, Kate Meyer Avedon offers a portrait of Capote in the town of Holcomb, the setting for his book, In Cold Blood. Capote came to Kansas in 1959 to document the murders of the Clutter family that had taken place there earlier that fall. The media coverage of the deaths, Capote’s book, and its later realization as a film all explore the universal fear that violence can intrude upon the smallest of towns.
