Similar to the other three artists on this wall, Vernon Fisher is exploring issues related to political identity. Fisher reproduces the look and feel of a blackboard. Erasures, as well as the inconsistencies of the chalk, emphasize the blurry boundary between fact and fiction.
According to Fisher, "We have to act as if the map is the world because we can never get to the world itself, all we can really know is the map ... but this truth is inevitably a fiction because it is constructed by human beings.
