Exhibition Label: "Inspired by Japan," Mar-2003, Cori Sherman Hall was immersed in the process of Japanese printmaking from the time she was introduced to it in 1925. This color screenprint diverges from her preferred woodblock medium, but required a similarly painstaking process to create. Hall was not tied to reproducing Japanese techniques or motifs exactly, choosing instead to suit her art to observations of her own surroundings, whether she was sojourning in European towns or working at home in the Midwest with her Prairie Printmaker colleagues.
