Exhibition Label: "A Kansas Arts Sampler," Oct-2004, Kate Meyer Herschel Logan was first exposed to printmaking by his friend C. A. Seward while in Wichita. Almost exclusively from 1920 to 1938, Logan produced woodcuts with a keen sense of aesthetic design that he cultivated through his work as a commercial artist. On the occupant of this humble Kansas homestead, Logan remarked, “It was always a treat to visit this pioneer home and to chat with its owner Mr. Barker, a kindly elderly man with a snow white beard. A more sensitive person could hardly be found.“
