Exhibition Label: "Charles Marshall, Artist on Site," Jun-2001, Cori Sherman Marshall was born in Atchison, Kansas, a town on the Missouri River border, across from St. Joseph, Missouri. He left to attend college in Manhattan, Kansas, and after graduating with a degree in architecture, accepted positions in Albany, New York, and Washington, D.C., returning to Kansas in 1934 to settle in Topeka. Some family members remained in Atchison for many years, and the artist revisited his birthplace often.
