Archive Label: “I did this drawing on cactus paper, mounted in the French style. I bought several sheets in Mexico. Miriam actually had this old table out at Loon Lake and it weathered to the point where it became dried out and cracked. Inside the shell is a fossilized stone or a rock of a fossil. This drawing has cast shadows; it’s not Zen. The only colors are gray, brown and white. There were a few spots on the table that were beginning to rot so that’s where you see some of the brown. The white part is gouache. Miriam bought that trumpet in an old second hand store and it didn’t have a mouthpiece and I guess I looked around for photographs and I made up the mouthpiece. We still have that gumball machine.”
