"Views of Vietnam," Oct-2006, Steve Goddard
These early Vietnamese ceramics with lush leaf patterns in cobalt-blue on a white ground most likely were made during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when Vietnam became a primary center for the manufacture of glazed ceramics. China’s 20-year-long annexation of Vietnam early in the fifteenth century, followed by a near 30-year ban on the export of ceramics from China, allowed the rapid growth of high-quality ceramics in Vietnam.
