Brosseau Center for Learning: Centenarians

Gerald Geerlings fought in France during World War I before studying architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. Geerlings worked as a designer in New York firms before establishing his own practice in the city in 1926. He returned to the military to fight in World War II, and in 1943 received the Legion of Merit.

As an artist Geerlings is best known for lithographs and etchings. His preferred subjects were New York and Chicago in the 1920s and 1930s. After his retirement in 1970, Geerlings devoted himself to drawing and lithography.
