The Power of Place: KU Alumni Artists

Along with her concerns for prairie lands, Terry Evans has dedicated time to portraying aspects of water use in the West—a topic that remains contested and prominent due to recurring drought and the risks to the Ogallala Aquifer. In Kansas, Evans has studied the Cheyenne Bottoms vicinity, portrayed in this photograph. Evans said she sought to convey “the tremendous pressures facing people and water in the West.”
