Archive Label 2003: Genoves was born in Valencia, Spain. As a child he witnessed the Spanish Civil War firsthand. His family sided with the anti-fascist Republicans. Shortly after completing El Lugar Y El Tiempo, Genoves was instrumental in organizing an exhibition in Milan to support the cause against General Franco, who was still Spain’s fascist dictator. The stark silhouettes in El Lugar Y El Tiempo (a portfolio of ten prints) suggest aggressively political crowds that rally and advance.
