Archive Label 2003: This section from Kelly’s Post-Partum Document series is included within the genre of figuration despite the fact that the body is not seen in the photographs. Working from a feminist concern that a display of the body inevitably leads to its objectification, Kelly specifically avoids representation of the human form yet continually makes reference to it. This series documents the life of Kelly’s child in a pseudo-scientific manner and also charts the changing mother-child relationship in the extended post-partum period.
