"Brion Gysin: A Selection of Books and Works on Paper," Feb-2005, Steve Goddard and Joanna Sternberg
In 1935, Gysin was invited to contribute to an exhibition of Surrealist drawings at the Galerie “Aux Quatre Chemins” in Paris. However, Paul Eluard removed Gysin’s contributions to the exhibition upon André Breton’s orders (perhaps due to an image Gysin had made of a bewigged lamb’s head resembling Breton, or perhaps due to Breton’s discomfort with Gysin’s homosexuality). This etching is typical of Gysin’s work in the Surrealist idiom.
