Exhibition Label: "Views of Vietnam," Oct-2006, Steve Goddard People's Liberation Armed Forces (the military wing of the Việt Cộng) digging a trench near South Vietnamese bunkers. This watercolor shows the flags of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) in the background, and the flag of the National Liberation Front (Việt Cộng), in the foreground, which remains, for many South Vietnamese who fled Vietnam after communist reunification (1975), a powerful symbol of oppression.
