Exhibition Label: "Conversation XVIII: World War I," Jan-2014, Stephen Goddard Devambez was an illustrator, painter, and publisher who was trained at the Académie Julian in Paris. In 1915, at the age of 48, he volunteered to serve with a camouflage unit and was seriously injured near Armentières. Exhibition Label: "Machine in a Void: World War I & the Graphic Arts," Mar-2010, Steve Goddard André Devambez, who was captivated by the idea of flight and of aerial views, summarized the War from numerous perspectives, both at the front and in civilian life.
