Digging Sticks
The digging stick shown here would be used by women for weeding. Larger sticks are used by men for heavy gardening tasks. Such sticks are less frequently used now than earlier, because of the introduction of metal shovels. It is interesting, however, that shovels are used in the same manner as the digging sticks, as can be seen in the photograph.
