9. DRINKING AND SMOKING
These carvings show men drinking palm wine and smoking from a gourd pipe (see other case). This would be a very common scene in a Chokwe village. Outside of clearing land, the women do most of the agricultural work. When the men are not hunting, one would probably find them gathered in a shady spot discussing current affairs over a cup of palm wine while sharing a smoke.
