"For Life's Sake: Arts from Africa," Oct-1983, Reinhild Kauenhoven Janzen
Besides beaded rings, brass or copper rings can be worn as well around neck, arms and legs. For example, metal rings are placed around a girl's neck when she is ready for marriage. The rods are heated and bent around her throat, which is protected from burning by wet cloths.
