Identified bird feathers in this garment include parrots (Psittacidae family), the plum-throated cotinga (Cotinga maynana) and the white-throated toucan (Ramphastos tucanus). The plum-throated cotinga at the center of the cape is not native to Venezuala, where the cape was created. The birds are native to more southerly neighboring countries of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
