Loom-woven beadwork such as these strips, hatbands, lamp pulls, and napkin rings were produced by Diné (Navajo) and Apache students at the Theodore Roosevelt School in Fort Apache, Arizona. This was a boarding school that sought to strip students of their cultural identities and assimilate them into Euro-American society. Its administrators sold these pieces to fund the school’s daily operations.
