Roots and Journeys: Encountering Global Arts and Cultures

Nubian women weave intricate colorful baskets using techniques passed down from one generation to the next. In addition to storing food and keeping it warm, this food cover (Kuta) is also used in the joyous occasion of a marriage, in which the Kuta would be used both to transfer food and as a gift for the new bride.
