Wichita artist Charles Merrick “Chili” Capps is best known for his prints of the American southwest, but this print suggests a location closer to home. A gigantic grain elevator towers over an old homestead. Long blades of grass blow in the wind; the treetops still have some leaves but the branches below are bare. What season do you think this might be? What sounds might you hear if you could step into the scene?
