Solomonie Alayko; his story was one of the first I was told. One day in the fall he decided he would walk with his sled to the next village, five days distant, to see his girlfriend, Laliemi. He did this. They married and spent their honeymoon on the way back to Akulivik (“between the two”). They are there now, and when I talked to Solomonie Alayko they had just seen their son off on his Ski-doo to fetch his wife. I later heard that he had got lost.
