Exhibition Label: “Big Shots: Andy Warhol, Celebrity Culture and the 1980s,” Aug-2009, Susan Earle Sharing the name of the famous 19th-century French author, the 20th-century Victor Hugo is an artist, designer, and close associate of fashion designer Halston. He was also Warhol’s Studio 54 cohort. Warhol portrays him here in a posed but informal moment, wearing socks outdoors on the gravel road in front of Warhol’s summer house in Montauk on eastern Long Island, New York.
