This print is a facsimile of the artist’s studio wall. The random patterns include tape residue that was perhaps used to attach notes, plans, or drawings. By replicating the actual wall of his studio- particularly its texture- Jiang transports his private space into a more public domain, such as the current museum setting. Through this spatial displacement and textural replication, Jiang explores the boundaries between ordinary objects and art, between replication and creativity.
