Exhibition Label: "Trees & Other Ramifications: Branches in Nature & Culture," Mar-2009, Steve Goddard This fossil leaf collected in Ellsworth County, Kansas, is from the Sterculia genus, sometimes referred to as Tropical Chestnuts. Present members of this genus are found in tropical and subtropical climates. More examples of fossil trees can be seen in a new installation on the sixth floor of the KU Natural History Museum.
