These paperweights were made in a traditional
Venetian style called millefiori, or “thousand flowers,” because of its incorporation of tiny, floral-patterned glass tiles called murini. This centuries-old Italian glassmaking technique was widely adopted throughout Europe and America, and was one of the inspirations for the Millefleur quilt that is on view nearby.
