Exhibition Label: "Machine in a Void: World War I & the Graphic Arts," Mar-2010, Steve Goddard In early 1918 girls aged 11 to 16 were invited by the French Ministry of Education to design posters on the theme of homeland restrictions. The results were impressive: the posters by the “Écolières de Paris” (Paris schoolgirls) could be seen in Paris shop windows, and they were enthusiastically received by the press.
