Exhibition Label: "Nature/Natural," Feb-2011, Kris Ercums Upon falling madly in love with Princess Sakura, the priest Seigen abandons his religious trainings and is expelled from Kiyomizudera, a famous temple in Kyoto. Nonetheless, his passion earns him nothing but rejection. Seigen goes mad and wanders the streets wearing Princess Sakura’s robe. The vertical diptych portrays Seigen’s obsession by showing him clutching Sakura’s robe, from which a vision of the princess emerges.
