Exhibition Label: "Rockne Krebs: Drawings for Sculpture You Can Walk Through," Aug-2013, Steve Goddard Krebs began to experiment with lasers in 1967. This drawing created inApril, 1969, concerns the combination of a searchlight and laser light and no doubt informed the artist’s thinking at the time of his major work, Ra, that combined horizontal laser beams, vertical shafts of sunlight, and vapor. Ra was realized for a three-person exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art with Ed McGowin and his close friend Sam Gilliam.
