A Pennsylvania-German artist decorated a redware plate with a stylized floral about the same time the Flower Pot quilt was made

Archive Label 1999:
Redware was produced in various parts of the United States from the 17th through the early 20th century. The freely drawn lines and date seen on this plate were produced by trailing a mixture of fine clay and water, called slip, onto the plate like cake decoration.
