The molded relief decoration on this pitcher shows a lively scene of wine drinking and dancing figures. Grapes, leaves, and a twisted vine for a "rustic" handle complete the Victorian profusion. Charles Meigh was one of the first to popularize Gothic Revival styles, and he won a medal for his mug with a bacchanal scene of 1847.
