Narratives of the Soul

This quilt is inspired by singer Tina Turner. Born in Tennessee as Anna Mae Bullock, Turner is one of the most successful female musical artists, with 11 Grammy Awards. Her 1984 hit song “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” was at no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard chart for three weeks. There is also a quilt by Whetstone in the accompanying exhibition, And Still We Rise.
