“For the roughly one hundred residents in Hazelton, schools, gasoline, groceries, and hospital services are all eight to twenty-two miles away. None of the building on this block are in use” (p. 68). As farming practices change, so do rural families and communities. Many communities face the effects of depopulation as farms become larger operations and people move to more urban areas.
