Looking After: Art and Care in Education Across Kansas

Kansas schoolchildren voted for the Western Meadowlark as the state bird in 1925. Here the bird is rendered with its characteristic yellow and brown colors and a “v” shape in the middle of its chest. Artist Margaret Whittemore was born in Topeka and is best known for her prints of Kansas birds and landmarks.
