Joe Fedderson teaches art at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He uses the abstract shapes in this print for some of his monumental wall paintings. The shapes derive from the geometric forms and colors of Colville baskets and textiles. The textile patterns were appropriated by Pendleton Woolen Mills in Oregon without regard to their symbolic meanings
