This print depicts the two scenes of Act 5 together on one sheet. At the right, Kampei, seeking a light for the match of his gun, runs across one of his fellow ronin. Kampei tells him of his desire to redeem himself and the ronin agrees to tell him where he can find Hara Goemon, the senior samurai in the late Enya Hangan's household, who is now in charge of collecting funds for a memorial stele. At the left, Sadakuro, a samurai turned bandit and the son of Ono Kudayu, a former retainer of Enya's who has become a spy for Moronao, is caught in the act of robbing and murdering Kampei's father-in-law Yoichibei.
