Exhibition Label: "Venus Observed," Dec-1980, Elizabeth Broun and Yolanda de Estrada Canaletto must have been unhappy with the very large plate as initially etched, for he divided it exactly in the middle after pulling a few impressions. It may be that the original plate lacked unity, and that the major monuments appeared insignificant in such a large expanse.
