Headlighting: Photographs by Thaddeus Holownia
Stephen Goddard, curator
Gallery 408, Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas

This exhibition highlights a recent gift of more than 40 photographs by Thaddeus Holownia from his series Headlighting, which features portraits of people with their cars. Holownia took the photos using an 8-inch by 20-inch Gundlach Banquet camera during a trip to Kansas. The images in this exhibition speak to the 1970s, car culture in Kansas, fashion, and the creative use of large format, panoramic cameras.
