Empowerment

How are you inspired to create? For Rose Kretsinger, family provided one source of inspiration. She learned her first quilting stitches from her maternal grandmother and later created quilts with her mother. Formal art school studies, travel, and museum collections, including quilts from our collection, also fueled her creativity. For this quilt, Kretsinger experimented with a popular commercial pattern called the “French basket.”
