Archive Label 1999: The anonymous farmer might symbolize the mythical Everyman of the midwest. This image reinforces the traditional association of Kansans with the land. Curry began making lithographs in 1927 at the Art Students League in New York City. Some of his prints, like Our Good Earth, were original compositions whereas others were variations on paintings of the same subject.
