Exhibition Label: "xy," Jun-2009, Kris Ercums The word "aide" was incorrectly transcribed as "awe" in the title of this photograph for many years in the Spencer's records. Perhaps due to the intensity of Wayne Newton’s “personal awe,” Esquire magazine reported in 1973 that the singer employed the services of Mitch Greenberg to occasionally stand in as a decoy to protect the star from crowds and murder threats.
