Archive Label 1999: Paul Teeter was a clay analyst for the State of Kansas who also taught ceramics at the University of Kansas from 1920 to 1922. The base is inscribed "made from Kansas clay." Teeter's main interest lay in geological survey for brick manufacturing; however, after prospecting for clay from the window of a railroad car, he decided that there were no good deposits in Kansas and left the area.
