Exhibition Label: "Constructions of Place: Architecture in Photography," Jan-1991, Erin Barnett Employed by the Farm Security Administration during the 1930s, Evans photographed rural and vernacular architecture in the southern United States. His photographs, which attempt to document a specific time and place, are carefully composed. Evans seems to flatten buildings by presenting them frontally with attention to detail. His works have influenced many photographers including William Christenberry.
